We invite you to become a member of THEA Community Support for the 2022-23 school year. Membership runs from August 1, 2022 to July 31, 2023. Regardless of when you join THEA, memberships expire July 31, 2023.

Membership requirements include:

acknowledging the THEA statement of faith
actively participating in legal home schooling
agreeing to THEA Member Policies
signing the waiver of liability
paying annual dues of $30 ($25 by Aug 31)
participating in and helping with THEA activities

Membership is at the discretion and approval of THEA Steering. If the above conditions of membership are not upheld, membership may be revoked.

THEA has no paid positions. The volunteer time and effort of the Steering Committee and member families make our organization successful.

It is our desire that THEA will:

provide resources, support, and encouragement for home educators and their families
sponsor activities in keeping with common Christian values in an atmosphere of mutual service and respect and
relay information pertaining to home education.

THEA has multiple levels of membership. If you are a member of another community/support group, please consider joining the Resource Access level to make room for those who have no other opportunities to be a part of a homeschool community.

Membership dues must be paid before your site login is activated. You will not be able to log-in as a member and view Community Support members only resources such as calendar, event registration and directory, until your dues are paid. You can pay with a debit card, credit card Pay Now button on the second page of this registration form.

1. THEA Member Policies and Statement of Faith
It is your responsibility to read the THEA Bylaws and Statement of Faith therein. Only the board is required to sign this document, but all members must understand and acknowledge that this is the guiding framework for our support group. Any teachings or issues contrary to those listed below could cause a family’s membership to be cancelled.

2. Waiver of Liability

RELEASE OF LIABILITY

READ CAREFULLY – THIS AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS

In exchange for voluntary membership and participation in the Tri-city Home Educators Association (THEA), agree for myself and for the members of my family, to the following:

I agree to observe and obey all posted rules and warnings, and further agree to follow any oral instructions or directions given by representatives of THEA and any affiliated clubs, their respective administrators, directors, agents, and other employees of the organization, other members/participants, activity coordinators, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises used to conduct the activities or events.
I recognize that there are certain inherent risks associated with the above described activity and I assume full responsibility for personal injury to myself and my family members, and further release and discharge THEA and any affiliated clubs, their respective administrators, directors, agents, and other employees of the organization, other members/participants, activity coordinators, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises used to conduct the activities or events for any illness, injury, loss or damage which might result not only from my own actions, inactions, or negligence but also the action, inaction, and negligence of others, or the condition of the premises or of any equipment used.
I agree to indemnify and defend THEA and any affiliated clubs, their respective administrators, directors, agents, and other employees of the organization, other members/participants, activity coordinators, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises used to conduct the activities or events against all claims, causes of action, damages, judgments, costs or expenses, including attorney fees and other litigation costs, which may in any way arise from my or my family’s use or presence upon the facilities used by and equipment of THEA.
I agree to pay for all damages to the facilities used by and equipment of THEA caused by my or my family’s negligent, reckless, or willful actions.
Any legal or equitable claim that may arise from participation in the above shall be resolved under North Dakota law.

3. Homeschooling Definition

Public school superintendents, legislatures, and BMAHE do not recognize virtual charter schools, distance learning and other public school-at-home programs as homeschooling.

Homeschooling does not include distance learning or public/private school at home as those students are enrolled in a district school or a private school. To qualify as a homeschooling family, you need to meet the requirements of ND Century Code Chapter 15.1-23-01. 4. THEAMembership to BPS District Library Media Center

THEA purchases a membership for its members to use the Bismarck Public School District Library Media Center at the Hughes Building on North Washington Street. To use the Center for copying or laminating, or to borrow any materials, THEA members need to present their current membership card to the librarian. The card can be downloaded and printed from the members’ site. The Center has the right to refuse services if you do not present your card.
